Finestrat splits into villas on steep ground below Puig Campana and apartments and houses by the sea at Cala. The shower you need, and the way we build it, depends on which side of that divide you live.
On the slopes, Finestrat homes are built on terraces and retaining walls, often on several levels. Bathrooms sit anywhere from the ground floor to the top storey, and getting materials and waste up and down is part of the work.
Near Cala de Finestrat the picture changes. Homes are closer together, many are used for holidays, and the sea breeze brings salt and sand into everything. Showers here must clean easily and cope with feet that come straight from the beach.
Our team has been busy along this stretch of coast since 1999. The whole shower area, from drain to glass, is handled by our own tradespeople with a single manager in charge, and we tell you frankly what each house will accept.
On the slope
A sloping plot often means bathrooms at different heights, with waste pipes that fall in more than one direction. Before we draw a shower we trace where the drain runs, because a long gentle fall to the main stack is easier to build than a steep one.
Lower floors may sit against retaining walls, where damp is a possibility. We look at wall surfaces near the shower for signs of moisture and say so at the survey. Sealing a new shower against a wall that is itself wet only hides the trouble.
Delivery matters on steep driveways. Large glass panels and porcelain sheets need careful handling, so we plan routes into the house and, if needed, order in sizes that can be carried safely rather than leaving a problem for the day.
By the sea
Apartments and houses near the shore take a steady stream of sandy visitors. A shower that works here has a floor with proper grip, a drain that does not clog easily and a screen that wipes down quickly after a busy week.
Salt in the air attacks poor metal. We specify robust fittings and discuss finishes with you, and we avoid details that trap moisture, such as unsealed edges or decorative recesses with no way to drain.
If the property is let or shared by family, we can make the bathroom more forgiving: a simple mixer, a wide drain cover that lifts out for cleaning, and a niche at hand height. Small choices like these keep the room tidy through the season.
Terrace access
Many Finestrat homes have a ground-floor bathroom close to a terrace, where swimmers and sunbathers come in wet. A level shower next to that door gives a natural rinse-off point and a floor that tolerates drips and damp feet.
The joint between inside and outside needs thought. Falls on the terrace should lead water away, and the threshold has to be sealed so that rain and splash do not enter. Our team can look at both sides, including non-slip surfaces outside.
We do not build swimming pools, but we can plan the bathroom and surrounding paving so that the route from terrace to shower works well. That kind of detail is easiest to put right before tiles are laid, not after.
How it works
A visit comes first: measuring, tracing the drain and examining the floor and nearby walls. We ask how the house is used and what you hope to change before preparing a free quotation in writing that describes the scope precisely.
After that the programme runs from strip-out and plumbing through the base, the seal and the tiles, with the screen last. Owners abroad get photographs at every stage, and a closing walk-round, in person or on video, confirms the shower is finished properly.

Yes. Sloping sites bring access and drainage questions, but they rarely stop the work. We check where the waste runs and how materials reach the bathroom, then design a base and falls that suit the house.
Grippy floor tiles, robust fittings and a screen that is easy to wipe. Salt and sand are constant, so surfaces should clean quickly and avoid places that trap moisture. We advise on the options at the survey.
Yes, with proper falls, sealing and non-slip surfaces on both sides of the threshold. We plan the inside shower and the outside floor together so water drains away from the house and the route is steady underfoot.
It can if it is ignored. We look at walls near the shower for signs of moisture and tell you what we find. Our damp proofing team can investigate before the shower is built, so the new work is not sealed over a problem.
