Finestrat’s hillside villas look out towards the Puig Campana, and a good kitchen there is planned around the view, the terrace and the heat of the day.
Many Finestrat homes sit on slopes, with the main living level and terrace facing the mountains or the sea. The kitchen has to relate to that outdoor space. A window, a glazed door or a serving counter between kitchen and terrace changes how the house is used through the summer.
Around Cala de Finestrat the housing is more mixed, with apartments and townhouses beside villas. Rooms there tend to be smaller, so the work is more about storage and layout than about grand gestures.
In both settings we treat the kitchen as a complete reform: design, units, worktops, plumbing, electrics, tiling and decoration, run by a single team.
Sun and heat
A kitchen with a strong afternoon sun needs thought. Dark, glossy fronts can show every mark under bright light, while matt and textured finishes hide fingerprints and wear more kindly.
Good extraction matters more than people expect in a warm climate, because cooking heat adds to an already warm room. We plan the extractor position and its route to the outside at the design stage.
Floors are usually tiled, and the same tile can run from the kitchen out onto a covered terrace, which makes the two areas read as one.
Window and view
Putting the sink under a window gives whoever is washing up something to look at, and it uses the natural light where it is most needed. It also affects the pipework, so we plan the run before fixing anything.
Where there is a view worth keeping we avoid tall units that block it, and spread storage into deep drawers and a full-height bank on a blind wall.
Lighting under wall cabinets and over the worktop makes the room usable in the evening, when the daylight has gone.
Practicalities
Access to hillside plots can be steep or narrow, and large deliveries need planning. We check the approach at the survey and arrange timings so the delivery vehicle is not left waiting.
Walls in some older Finestrat houses are thick and not entirely plumb. Bespoke units, or factory units with carefully scribed edges, deal with that.
When the old kitchen is out we make good the plaster and paint before the new run goes in.
How it works
A visit comes first, so we can see the room, the terrace and the access. We then produce a layout and a written quotation, which is free, and take you to the suppliers to look at units, worktops and tiles.
A single programme follows, managed by one person who speaks English and Spanish. Owners abroad get photographs and calls through the job, and the work is guaranteed within the scope set out in the quotation.

Yes. Apartment kitchens are smaller, so we spend more time on storage and layout, and we arrange access with the building when it is needed.
