The coastal strip of L'Albir is largely made up of holiday and second homes: apartments with a balcony facing the water and villas stepping up the hillside behind. For most owners the point of the property is the view, which makes the window or door in front of it the most important part of the house.
A good sea-view opening is mostly about detail. Slim frames let in more light, a sliding door that glides rather than grinds gets used, and a balcony door sealed against rain and salt stays pleasant for years. Cheap versions of each tend to disappoint within a couple of summers.
We measure and fit the work ourselves, and we are used to owners who are only here for part of the year. Dragon Reforms has served this coast since 1999, and Albir is a stretch of it we know well.
Sea views
Where the sea is the selling point, the glass should do justice to it. Large sliding or lift-and-slide doors to a terrace give a wide opening, and a good track and rollers keep them easy to move even when they are big.
Sun is the other side of the view. A west-facing lounge can become uncomfortably warm, so we discuss glazing options and external shutters or blinds that let you keep the view while shading the room. A strip of matt shading outside the glass can drop the heat in the room without hiding the view that you chose the apartment for.
If you are considering enclosing a terrace with glass, we explain what is feasible and what the community of owners may need to approve. If a terrace enclosure would need the town hall's licence, you hear that during the survey.
Holiday lets
A holiday apartment is used hard. Guests slam balcony doors, forget to lock windows and leave shutters half raised. Simple, strong hardware and fittings that are easy to understand stand up to this much better than delicate ones. A balcony door that closes with a firm handle and a decent seal also keeps out the wind and rain that arrive with autumn storms.
Security matters when the flat is empty between bookings. A solid entrance door with decent locks and well-fitted ground-floor windows discourage casual attempts, and we advise what is sensible without turning the place into a fortress. Cheap padlocks and weak cylinders are the first thing to replace, and cost very little next to the contents of the flat.
Noise from the promenade side is a common complaint in guest reviews. Double glazing and shutters that seal fully help bedrooms feel quieter, which is worth considering if sleep quality shows up in your feedback. It is a modest cost that often shows up in the way guests describe their stay.
Up the slope
Villas on the slopes towards the Sierra Helada often date from different decades. A house may have aluminium windows from one era and timber doors from another, which look mismatched and perform unevenly. Variety is normal in an older house, but it usually means different seals, different sticking points and different maintenance for each room.
We can replace the mixed set with matching frames, taking into account which rooms face the sun, which need privacy and where you would like more opening area. Insect screens and shutters can be added at the same time. Where you want to modernise only the worst windows first, we plan the order so that the rest can follow without clashing.
On sloping plots, deliveries may need planning. Tell us about access and we will arrange sizes and timing so the fitting day runs smoothly. Extra time spent on this at the start can prevent a long-handled frame being left outside because it cannot get round a bend.
How it works
We start with a visit or, if you are abroad, photographs and a video call. We note each opening, its condition and how you use it, then measure on site and prepare a written quotation setting out products, fitting and making good.
When you accept, our team fits the new units and tests each one. A guarantee applies to the work, with its limits written into the quotation. A neighbour or property manager can let us in, and you see photographs as things progress.

Often, yes, subject to the structure and the community's rules. We check the opening, advise what size is practical and quote for the door, the fitting and the finishing around it. Please send the width and height of the opening if you have them.
Robust hardware, a secure entrance door and double glazing in bedrooms usually pay off. We recommend what suits the layout and the type of guest you host. Easy-clean frames also save time between lets. Ask us.
In many cases, yes. Depending on the frame and the wall above it, we can fit roller shutters or persianas, and we tell you at the survey if a particular window is awkward. Fly screens can be fitted to match.
Yes. Details are settled remotely, a trusted contact lets us in, and you get photographs and updates until every door and window has been tested. Photos and videos of the openings help us give a realistic first answer.
