Dragon Reforms has its office in Callosa d'en Sarrià, so these are our own streets and valley. We fit windows and doors in village houses, older stone homes and fincas, with a free quotation.
Callosa d'en Sarrià sits inland, in the valley below the Guadalest mountains, among medlar groves and farming terraces. It is where our office is, and many of the homes we are asked to look at are ones we pass every day. They are rarely identical: each has grown by additions over the years.
That history shows in the openings. Older stone and rendered houses have thick walls, windows set at slightly different heights and doors that were cut to suit whatever was available at the time. A frame for such a house is best made to measure rather than bought in a standard size.
A survey visit is simple to arrange, and follow-up checks are never a long drive. Dragon Reforms has been fitting frames along this coast since 1999,. A quick phone call is often enough to book it. Ask us for a time and we will fit around you.
Village homes
In a village house the wall can be far deeper than in a modern block, and the opening may lean a little. A frame that is fitted without allowing for this leaves gaps that let in air and water. We check the opening in several places before ordering and make good the reveals afterwards.
Many owners want to keep the character of the house while stopping the draughts. Aluminium or uPVC can be finished in colours that sit well against rendered or stone walls, and we show you samples so you can judge on site.
Where the existing timber is sound but tired, a repair, re-hang and new seals may be enough. We say so honestly, because replacing something that can be saved does not help you. A small repair done well can add years, and a clear explanation of what we found lets you choose with confidence.
Fincas
A finca on the terraces above the town may be lived in all year or visited now and then. Either way, it is exposed to sun, rain and the odd storm, and the doors and shutters take the brunt of it. Strong frames and sturdy locking are more useful than fashionable styling.
Old farmhouses often have large wooden doors and small high windows. We can replace those with insulated, secure units of a similar proportion, or add glazing where you want more light in a dark room. Glazing can be added to a dark hallway or storeroom, and a door with a glazed panel often lights a passage that used to need a lamp all day.
Access can be along narrow tracks, so tell us how a delivery would reach the house. We plan the supply and fitting around that and let you know if a particular size would be awkward to bring in. Narrow lanes and steep tracks are normal here, so we think about how a long frame or a heavy door will physically reach the building.
Year-round living
Callosa is a town people live in all year, not just visit, so comfort matters in winter as well as summer. Well-sealed double glazing keeps rooms warmer on cool evenings and cooler in the afternoons, and shutters let you close up a room against the sun.
Fly screens are worth considering in a valley with so much growing around it. We fit them to windows and balcony doors so that you can leave things open in the evening. A fine mesh frame can be fitted to opening sashes and door leaves, and many can be rolled aside when not wanted.
If you are away for stretches, a solid entrance door and multi-point locks give peace of mind. We can also arrange for someone to check the property after the work with a local contact you nominate. That simple arrangement is cheaper than most alarm systems and is often a better first step for a quiet street.
How it works
We begin by visiting the house, since an opening tells us more than a photograph. We note what is failing, how each window or door is used and what the walls are made of. A written quotation follows with products, fitting and finishing listed clearly.
Our own team carries out the work and tests every opening before leaving. Everything is guaranteed, and the quotation spells out what that covers. If you are abroad, we agree details remotely and keep you informed with photographs and calls.
Questions
Yes. We measure the depth and condition of the opening, choose a frame that suits it and seal and finish the reveals. The result keeps the house weathertight without losing its character. We also explain how deep reveals can be finished neatly inside.
Yes. Our office is in the town, which makes survey visits and later checks straightforward. We work across the north Costa Blanca but Callosa is our home base. A survey visit can usually be arranged quickly, and we can talk by phone beforehand.
Often, yes. If the timber is sound we can re-hang, treat and reseal it. If it is rotten or insecure we will say so and quote for a replacement that suits the house. A new door can follow the same proportions.
That is common. We agree the work remotely, arrange access through someone you trust, and send photographs and video updates until every opening has been tested and finished. Photographs of each opening and a few measurements are enough to start the conversation.
