Painting & Plastering Callosa d'en Sarrià

Plastering and painting for the valley's older houses and fincas, carried out by a firm whose office sits in the town and which knows how local walls behave. Quotations are free and written.

Callosa d'en Sarrià lies inland, in the valley beneath the Guadalest mountains, and its houses reflect that. Old village homes, rendered stone walls and farmhouses on the terraces make up much of the stock. They are solid and characterful, but rarely uniform.

Our office is here, so we see these walls constantly. Typical complaints are patchy old render, flaking paint in cool, damp ground-floor rooms and uneven plaster inside houses that have been altered many times. Older neighbouring properties show many of the same patterns.

Since 1999 we have plastered, rendered and painted homes around this part of Alicante, and the same firm can handle the building work that goes with it, which keeps the sequence of trades tidy. That helps avoid the common problem of one trade undoing another's finish.

Understanding Stone and Rendered Walls First

A stone wall under render is not like a block wall. It moves differently, takes up moisture and dries slowly. Before choosing a product, we find out what the wall is made of and how it has been treated in the past.

Hard cement render over soft old stone can trap damp and crack. Where appropriate, we use compatible materials and apply them in sensible thicknesses. If we are unsure, we say so rather than guess. A short test patch usually shows us what a wall will accept.

Repairs to patchy render should blend with what is sound around them. We cut back, fill, key the surface and finish, so patches do not become a map of previous work. Colour matching is part of the work, since new render rarely looks like old render until it has weathered.

Inside

Cool Ground Floors and Uneven Interior Plaster

Ground-floor rooms in valley houses can stay cool and slightly damp through winter. Paint peels, wallpaper bubbles and mould shows up behind furniture. We look for the cause before decorating, because new paint on a wet wall will fail again.

Interior plastering in older homes often starts with straightening. Walls bow, corners wander and ceilings dip. We build the surface up in stages, so the finished room looks calm rather than rippled. It takes patience, but it is the only way to make light fall evenly across the wall.

We also fit cornices and coving, repair cracks around door frames and finish the walls after new electrics or joinery have gone in. Neat junctions around switches, frames and skirting boards finish the room, and we mask carefully so edges stay crisp.

Fincas

Finishing Restored Farmhouses and Outbuildings

A finca renovation usually involves several buildings, each with different walls and uses. The main house may want a fine finish; a store or workshop might need something rugged and washable. We price and plan each building separately. That avoids paying for a high specification where it brings no benefit.

Exterior walls on hillsides face full sun and heavy rain. We choose paint that tolerates both, and detail copings, cills and the base of walls to throw water away from the surface. Gutters and downpipes are checked too, since a blocked one can ruin new paint within a season.

If you want a rustic look, such as rough lime-style render, we discuss what is realistic and what is hard to achieve consistently. Reaching the same look in every building is difficult, so we show you a sample patch before committing.

How it works

How a Painting & Plastering Job Job in Callosa d'en Sarrià Works

We call to look at the walls, usually quickly because we are based here. We note what they are made of, test for dampness where it is suspected, and ask about the look you want. Overseas owners can send photographs and arrange a key holder.

Next comes a free written quotation covering preparation, plastering and painting. Once agreed, we work through the property in a sensible order, tidy as we go and leave it clean. The guarantee follows the scope that the quotation sets out.

Questions

Painting & Plastering Callosa d'en Sarrià — Common Questions

Can you repair patchy render on a stone house in Callosa d'en Sarrià?

Yes. We cut back loose areas, choose a compatible mix and blend the repair into sound render around it. For heavily damaged walls, a full re-render may be better, and we advise honestly. Colour matching is part of the job.

Why does paint peel in my valley house every winter?

Usually moisture. It may come from the wall, a gutter or poor ventilation. We investigate the source first, because repainting without fixing it only delays the problem. Mould in the same spot each year usually points to the same cause.

Do you plaster very uneven old walls?

We do. Walls are built up in stages to straighten them. In very irregular masonry, some character remains, and we agree with you how flat you want the result to be. We discuss the finish you want before starting.

Can the same firm do the building work on my Callosa d'en Sarrià finca?

Yes. Dragon Reforms manages every trade, so plastering and painting fit into the sequence with carpentry, electrics and plumbing, under one team. That means fewer visits, fewer delays and a single person to ask about progress.
