Calpe has two main kinds of home, apartments near the sea and villas on the hillsides under the Peñón de Ifach, and a bathroom renovation looks different in each.
Many Calpe owners have apartments within reach of the beach. They are used for holidays, for rental, or as a base for a few months each year, and the bathroom takes a lot of wear from sand, salt and heavy summer use. Hillside villas are the other half of the town, with more space, more rooms and often a terrace or a view that the bathroom can borrow from.
For an apartment, the priority is usually a bathroom that is easy to keep clean, dries quickly and stands up to constant turnover. For a villa, the question is often how to make the room feel generous and connected to the outdoors. We approach both with the same careful survey, but the design that comes out of it is very different.

Salt and humidity
Close to the coast, bathrooms deal with humid air and with salt carried in from the beach. Fittings and finishes that handle that environment will look better for longer. We help owners pick surfaces that clean easily and resist staining.
Ventilation deserves more attention than it usually gets. A properly sized extractor, or a window that opens, keeps moisture from lingering and helps protect paint, grout and timber. We put extraction into the design rather than leaving it as an extra.
Floors need to be safe when wet. Slip-resistant tiles, correct falls and a well-drained shower area are practical points that matter in a home where wet feet come in from the pool or the beach.
Terraces
In a Calpe villa, a bathroom can sometimes sit beside a terrace, with a door or a large window opening to the outside. This allows a different kind of room, with a bath placed so that the terrace and the sky are part of the experience.
An arched opening or alcove can frame a bath in stone-effect surfaces, and warm limestone and travertine shades go well with the light on this coast. The design relies on careful waterproofing and neat joins where inside meets outside.
Our terraces and outdoor works team can look after the exterior side of such a project too, so the bathroom and the space beyond it are planned together.
Tiling and layout
The quickest gain in a small apartment bathroom is often to swap an old bath for a walk-in shower. It opens the floor, brings in light and reduces cleaning. We draw the layout so doors, drainage and fittings all work together.
Beyond the shower, a wall-hung vanity gives storage without taking up the floor, and a well-placed mirror with lighting makes a small room feel larger. These are inexpensive in design terms but do much of the work.
Our before-and-after approach is simple. We start with a clear sense of what is wrong with the room now, and we do not add features that the space cannot carry.
How it works
We start with a visit to measure and talk through what you want. A written quotation follows, and the quotation is free. When you are happy with the plan, we agree dates and order materials.
The sequence runs from strip-out and plumbing and electrics, through tiling, installation and decoration, to a final check. You receive photographs and updates along the way, and the work is guaranteed within the scope set out in the quotation.

Yes. Many owners are away, and we manage the job with regular photographs and phone updates. We speak English and Spanish.
Easy-clean porcelain, good waterproofing, slip-resistant floors and proper ventilation work well. We advise on the details when we visit.
Where the layout allows, yes. We handle the waterproofing and the joins between inside and outside, and our outdoor works team can take care of the terrace itself.
