Benissa has old town houses, countryside fincas and villas near the coast, and a bathroom renovation here often means fitting modern comfort into a building with real character.
The old town of Benissa is made up of traditional houses, some of them handsome and many of them in need of updating inside. Out in the countryside, fincas offer space and a rural setting, while the coastal side of the municipality has villas of more recent construction. Each type pushes the bathroom in a different direction.
Fincas and old houses tend to share a challenge: bathrooms were added to buildings that predate them. Layouts can be awkward, walls are thick and the services were routed around the structure. A renovation is an opportunity to put things in a more sensible order, but it needs to be done with respect for the building.

Fincas
A finca bathroom works best when it belongs to the house. Textured plaster, warm limestone shades and natural timber suit the setting, and a stone-effect finish on the walls can make a plain room feel rooted.
Curved forms, arched alcoves and recesses are well suited to this style, and they can be built into the room to house a shower, a basin or a bath. They need careful setting out and clean waterproofing, but the result is distinctive.
We design so the new elements complement the old building, rather than making the finca resemble a city flat.
Access
Many people in Benissa are planning to stay in their homes for the long term, and a bathroom is one of the first rooms that can become difficult as mobility changes. A level-access shower, a wide doorway, grab rails and good lighting can all be built in without making the room look clinical.

Villas and terraces
For villas on the coastal side, bathrooms often sit near a terrace or garden. Placing a bath in an arched recess, with a door or window to the outside, gives the room a sheltered, open feel.
Stone-effect walls and warm tones sit well with the light, and a generous bath in the right position can make the room the high point of the house.
Where terrace or garden work is also planned, it can be coordinated with the bathroom so that the inside and outside are handled together.
How it works
We visit, measure and discuss what you want, and look at the building’s construction. A written quotation follows, and the quotation is free. After you approve the plan, we fix dates and order materials.
The work moves from strip-out through plumbing, electrics, waterproofing, tiling and installation to plastering and painting. Updates come by phone and photographs, and the work is guaranteed within the scope set out in the quotation.
