Bathroom Renovations Polop

Polop is a small inland village, and many of its homes are older village houses where a bathroom renovation starts with understanding the building.

Unlike the coastal towns, Polop is made up largely of village houses and hillside villas rather than apartment blocks. The older houses have thick walls, original floors and layouts that were never designed around a modern bathroom. Often the bathroom was added later, squeezed into a room that had another purpose, and the plumbing reflects that.

Because of that, a bathroom job in a village house is as much about what lies behind the finish as the finish itself. Before choosing tiles, we want to know how the waste runs, what condition the supply pipes are in, whether the wiring is up to the demands of a modern room and whether any walls hold moisture.

Dragon Reforms has worked across the north Costa Blanca since 1999. We handle design, building, plumbing, electrics, tiling and decoration ourselves, and we keep owners who are abroad informed with calls and photographs.

Older houses

What to Expect When We Open Up a Village House Bathroom

In an older house, stripping the room back is the honest way to begin. Once the tiles and fittings are out, we can see the pipework, the state of the plaster and the condition of the floor, and plan accordingly. It is much better to find and fix problems at that stage than to cover them with new finishes.

Walls in village houses are often thick and uneven, and floors may slope slightly. We prepare the surfaces so tiles and glass sit correctly, rather than relying on adhesive to hide the difference.

If damp turns up, we look for the cause. Damp proofing is something we also do, so a wet wall can be diagnosed and treated as part of the same programme.

Style

Modern Comfort That Respects the House

A village bathroom does not need to look like a hotel. Timber vanity units, stone-style basins, textured plaster and warm neutral colours sit comfortably alongside original beams and stonework, and give the room a settled, lasting feel.

Where beams are exposed in the bathroom, they can become part of the design. A floating wooden unit beneath a stone-effect wall echoes that character, and soft lighting picks out the textures.

A walk-in shower with concealed drainage fits easily into this approach, offering modern convenience without disturbing the look of the room.

Villas

Hillside Villas Around the Village

Beyond the centre, hillside villas make up much of the housing. These tend to have larger bathrooms, and owners often want a clearer separation between bath, shower and washing area.

A generous shower area with a stone-effect basin nearby gives the room a clean, spa-like layout. Careful waterproofing and good falls are part of making it work every day, not just at handover.

For villas used as holiday homes, we can advise on fittings and finishes that cope with a pattern of use that is intense in summer and quiet through the rest of the year.

Questions

Bathroom Renovations Polop — Common Questions

Can you renovate a bathroom in an old village house in Polop?

Yes. We open up the room, check the plumbing, wiring and walls, and prepare the surfaces properly before installing anything new.

What if you find damp or old pipework when the bathroom is stripped?

We explain what we find and what it means, and we deal with it as part of the job. We also carry out damp proofing.

Can the bathroom suit the character of the house?

Yes. Timber, stone-effect finishes and warm plaster tones work well in older homes, and we design with the existing building in mind.

Do you speak English?

Yes, we speak English and Spanish and keep clients informed by phone and photographs.
