La Nucía is a town of villas and urbanisations on the hillsides inland from the coast. Houses are often generous in size, so the question is how to cool and heat a whole home sensibly.
Many homes in La Nucía are villas set on sloping plots, with several bedrooms, a large living area and often a terrace or pool. Cooling a house like that with a single unit rarely works, so the work is about choosing between a multi-split, a ducted system or a mix of units, and getting the layout right.
Being a little inland and higher than the shoreline, the town feels some of the same heat as the coast but without the sea air close by. Salt is less of a worry than in a seafront flat, though dust and sun still take their toll on outdoor units.

Whole-house comfort
There are three broad approaches. Individual splits in each room give independent control and are easy to repair. A multi-split links several indoor units to one or two outdoor units, saving outdoor space. A ducted system hides the equipment in a ceiling void and delivers air through grilles, which suits owners who dislike wall units.
Each has trade-offs. Ducted systems need ceiling space and careful planning, and they are best considered at the start of a renovation or when the layout makes it practical. Individual units are simpler, but you will see more of them. We talk through the options with your plans in mind.
Sloping plots can help or hinder. A flat roof or a lower level can offer a good place for outdoor units, while a steep garden may make long pipe runs expensive. We assess this on site.
Heating in the cooler months
Away from the coast, winter evenings can feel noticeably cooler indoors, particularly in houses that are only occupied part of the year. A reverse-cycle system can warm a living room quickly without running a heating system for the whole house.
That works well when you use the room often, and less well in a large open space with little insulation. We will tell you honestly what to expect so you can decide whether to rely on it or to add other measures.

Urbanisation homes
Many houses in La Nucía’s urbanisations have systems that were fitted years ago. Older fixed-speed units can be noisy and costly to run, and parts may be harder to find. We assess whether a repair is worthwhile or whether replacing a unit makes better sense.
A service is often enough to bring a poorly performing system back to health. Cleaning coils and filters, checking the drain and inspecting the outdoor unit can make a real difference.
