Old pipework
Hidden leaks in thick old walls announce themselves as damp patches, peeling paint, a smell, or a water meter that keeps turning when everything is off. We start by isolating sections of the system to narrow the search before we open anything.
Opening up is kept as small as possible, and we repair the pipe or joint at the source. If we find that the surrounding pipework is also tired, we say so and let you decide between a local repair and a larger renewal.
In a house you live in all year, we plan the shut-offs to keep disruption short and tell you when water will be off. If a section of pipe has to be replaced, we say how far the replacement needs to run and why, so that the repair does not simply move the leak a metre along the wall.
Seafront flats
In a flat near the water, space is tight and neighbours are close. A badly sealed shower or a slow drip behind a basin can damage the ceiling downstairs, so we pay attention to seals, traps and connections that are easy to overlook.
When a water heater fails, we supply and fit a replacement matched to the number of people using it, and explain how mineral-rich water may affect its life. Small habits, such as occasional descaling of taps, add years. Waste connections are checked at the same time.

Villas inland have longer pipe runs, several bathrooms, garden taps and sometimes irrigation. Pressure can vary with the height of the house and the time of day, and tracing buried pipes in a terrace or garden needs method rather than guesswork.
We check pressure at several points, look at valves and storage, and recommend whether a change to pipework or a piece of equipment will help. Where the fault lies with the supply outside the property, we tell you plainly. Pressure readings are noted for you.
Winter heating can be included in a reform if you spend the cooler months here. Irrigation and garden taps can be tested, drained for winter and repaired. Any pool plant stays with a pool specialist, as swimming pools are outside our work, but we can deal with the household supply that feeds a garden or outdoor shower.
How it works
Tell us what is happening and a plumber will visit to see the pipes, fittings and access. Afterwards we send a free written quotation that states what will be done and what is outside the scope. Nothing is started before you agree.
The plumber does the work, tests it and tidies up. If you are abroad, we send messages and photographs and can arrange keys. Our work carries a guarantee, described in the quotation. Every question gets a plain answer. Nothing is closed up until you are happy.
