Altea’s hillside old town and coastal villas pose very different plumbing questions. One has narrow, old buildings on steep ground. The other has larger systems, outdoor areas and more to maintain.
The old town of Altea climbs a hill, and its houses have been altered over generations. Walls are thick, rooms are not always square, and pipes often follow routes nobody drew down. Working in them takes patience and some knowledge of how such buildings behave.
Outside the old town, coastal villas with gardens, terraces and sometimes pools have the opposite issue. There is more plumbing, spread over a larger area, and more places for something to go wrong unnoticed.

The old town
Thick walls and uneven floors make it hard to run new pipes, and hidden old pipework makes it hard to be sure what you are dealing with. Before we propose anything, we look at what is visible, check how the supply enters the building and consider where waste lines fall.
Where possible, we avoid cutting more than is necessary. Sometimes that means surface-mounted runs in service areas, and sometimes it means opening a section of wall and making it good. We explain the options before any work begins.
Steep streets and limited access can affect how materials arrive and how long a job takes. We allow for this in the planning, rather than letting it surprise anyone halfway through.
Villas
A villa usually has several bathrooms, a kitchen, a utility area, outside taps and sometimes irrigation or pool equipment. That is a lot of pipework, and a slow leak in one part may go unnoticed for weeks, especially if the house is not occupied all year.
We trace leaks methodically, starting with symptoms and checking runs one by one. Once found, we repair the pipe or joint and tell you whether the surrounding pipework is in good condition or likely to cause trouble again.
Salt in the air and mineral-heavy water also take a toll on exposed fittings and heaters. Replacing corroded valves and scaled-up units before they fail is cheaper than dealing with a flooded utility room.
Slopes and pressure
Altea’s terrain means some homes sit well above the supply while others sit below it. Pressure can be weak in one and excessive in the other, and neither is good for fittings or appliances.
We investigate before recommending anything. A blocked filter, a part-closed valve or undersized pipework can mimic a bigger supply problem, and they are cheaper to fix. Where the answer is equipment, we set out what it does and why it suits the house.
Hot water follows the same logic. Long pipe runs between heater and tap mean a wait for hot water. Choosing the heater position and size carefully makes a noticeable difference.
