Terrace Renovations Altea

Altea is built up a hillside, so its terraces are often on different levels, reached by steps and fitted into awkward spaces. That shapes both the design and the way the work is carried out.

The old town of Altea climbs the slope in layers of whitewashed houses, with narrow lanes and steps. Many homes there have a roof terrace or a small patio, chosen for the view, and the access is not always easy for builders or materials.

Around the old town and along the coast there are also villas with larger terraces looking over the sea. Their problems are more about size, drainage and the wear from sun and salt.

We work in both. The first thing we look at is how the terrace is built and how we can get to it, because on a hillside that decides how the job is planned.

Access first

Working in Narrow Streets and on Several Levels

In the old town, vans cannot always reach the door, so materials may need to be carried in by hand or lifted over walls. This affects the timing and the choice of materials, and we plan for it from the beginning.

Terraces here are frequently on roofs or built over older structures. Before laying anything we check that the base is sound and that the waterproofing will carry water to a proper outlet.

Steps and changes of level are common. They need a consistent, non-slip finish and clear edges, and the railings must be properly fixed.

Materials

Stone, Stone-Effect Porcelain and Whitewashed Walls

Altea’s houses suit natural finishes. Sandstone and travertine sit comfortably with whitewashed walls, and we can match or complement existing paving. Porcelain that imitates stone is a practical alternative where upkeep matters.

Older walls around terraces often need repointing, and stone that has worked loose should be refixed. Done sympathetically, this keeps the character of the building.

Light colours stay cooler in summer, which is worth considering on a roof terrace in full sun.

Villas by the coast

Larger Terraces on Altea Villas

Villa terraces in the area can be large, partly shaded and close to a pool. We renovate the paving around existing pools and correct drainage so water leaves the house and the pool edge.

Pergolas for shade are popular. Our carpentry team can build a timber structure to suit the terrace, and the lighting and sockets can be placed before the new floor goes in.

Clients with homes here are often abroad for much of the year, so we agree the plan beforehand and report back with photos.

How it works

How a Terrace Job in Altea Works

We visit, or look at photos and plans, to understand the terrace and how we will reach it. Then we give a free quotation covering the stages, the materials and what the guarantee includes.

On site we strip, repair, waterproof, let the layers cure and finish. Because access can be difficult in the old town, we tell you in advance how long the job should take and what disruption to expect.

Questions

Terrace Renovations Altea — Common Questions

Can you work on a roof terrace in Altea’s old town?

Yes. We plan around narrow access and steps, carry materials in where vans cannot reach and take care with shared walls and neighbours.

What paving suits an Altea terrace?

Sandstone, travertine and stone-effect porcelain all work well with whitewashed houses. The right choice depends on sun, use and your budget.

Do you repair railings and steps as part of terrace renovation in Altea?

Yes. We refix and repair railings, rebuild or refinish steps, and make sure the surface is non-slip.

Can you add a pergola or lighting at the same time?

Yes. Carpentry and electrical work are done by our own teams, so they can be planned with the terrace.
