Tiling & Flooring Altea
Altea's floors tell the story of the houses above them. Some are centuries of patching on a hill, others are fresh villa interiors. Good tiling starts with reading which one you have.
Altea's old town rises up a hill in lanes that a delivery van cannot enter. Houses have thick walls, small rooms and floors that rarely sit level. Tiling a floor in a house like that is an exercise in patience, and the first job is simply to see what the floor has been doing for years.
Down towards the coast and in the wider municipality, villas and apartments are more conventional, with larger rooms and straighter slabs. Here owners usually want a clean, modern look, often porcelain in big sizes, carried through from living room to terrace edge.
Both ask for a tiler who looks before quoting. We visit, check levels with a long straight edge, tap for hollow tiles and talk through how everything will arrive on site, because carrying materials on foot is part of the cost of an old town job.
