Planning a Kitchen Reform in Benidorm: What to Expect from Start to Finish

A kitchen reform runs smoothly when each stage happens in the right order. This guide walks through the process, with notes for Benidorm apartments and holiday homes.
A new kitchen looks like one job, but it is really a chain of them: measuring, designing, ordering, removing the old kitchen, plumbing, electrics, units, worktops, tiling and appliances. Delays usually come from stages being done out of order, or decisions left until the last moment.
Most of our kitchen work in Benidorm is in apartments, many of them holiday homes owned by people who live elsewhere. That adds a few considerations of its own, which we cover below.
Before work starts
The First Conversation, Survey and Design
The first conversation is about how you use the kitchen. Do you cook daily, or is it mostly for holidays? Do you want to open it to the living room? What annoys you about the current layout? Answers to these shape the design far more than any catalogue.
We then visit to survey. We measure carefully, check where services run, and look at walls, ceilings and floors. In an apartment the survey also covers practical constraints, such as whether a wall can be altered, where the extraction can vent, and how materials will reach the flat. Structural changes and some external work may need a licence from the town hall, and we advise at survey.
From the survey comes a design and a written quotation, which is free. Agree the layout, finishes and appliances at this point. Changing your mind after units are ordered is the single most common cause of delay.
On site
Strip-Out, Plumbing and Electrics
Work begins by removing the old kitchen. Once units and tiling are off, we see what is really behind them: pipes in poor condition, old wiring, uneven walls. It is common for small surprises to appear here, and we would rather deal with them openly than cover them up.
Plumbing and electrics come next, before anything is closed in. Supply and waste pipes are moved or renewed, new points are run for the hob, oven, dishwasher and washing machine, and sockets and lighting are positioned to suit the design. This is the stage to ask for any extra sockets you want.
Walls are then made good and prepared. Skipping this preparation shows later as uneven tiling or door and drawer fronts that do not line up.
Fitting
Units, Worktops, Tiling and Appliances
Units are fitted first, levelled and fixed to the walls, because everything else depends on them being accurate. Worktops follow. Some, such as laminate, can be fitted directly, while stone and composite materials are templated after the units are in and then cut, so they involve a short wait.
Tiling and splashbacks come after the worktops, and the sink, taps and appliances are connected last. Built-in ovens and hobs, extraction, dishwasher and fridge are positioned to the plan, and doors and handles are adjusted so everything lines up.
A smaller job can be done in days; a full renovation takes longer, and we give a programme in the quotation so you know what to expect.
Apartments and handover
Benidorm Apartments, Holiday Homes and Snagging
In a Benidorm apartment block, the building has rules. Many communities set working hours, require notice of works, and limit when lifts can be used for materials and rubble. Protecting lifts and communal areas is expected. We find out the requirements early and plan deliveries and noisy work around them.
If the apartment is a holiday home, we can work around your visits and keep you informed with photographs and video calls, so you are not obliged to be present. Keys, access and delivery dates are agreed in advance.
At the end we go through the kitchen with you, or with your photographs, and list anything to put right: a door that needs adjusting, a sealant line, a mark on a surface. This snagging stage matters, and our work is guaranteed, with the scope set out in the quotation.
