Expert Carpenter in Finestrat

Published 8 July 2026 · Dragon Reforms

Good carpentry changes how a home feels and works. In Finestrat, where sun, salt and sloping plots all play a part, the right timber and the right fitting make a lasting difference.

Finestrat homes range from hillside villas beneath Puig Campana to houses and apartments near Cala de Finestrat. Each brings different carpentry needs, indoors and out.

This article covers the joinery jobs we are most often asked about and what to consider with each. Dragon Reforms has worked across the north Costa Blanca since 1999, and the quotation is free.

Indoors

Fitted Wardrobes and Doors

Fitted wardrobes make use of awkward alcoves and sloping ceilings, which are common in older villas. Made to measure, they hold more than freestanding furniture and look part of the room. Sliding or hinged doors, shelving and internal layouts are all agreed with you before building starts.

Doors are the other everyday job. A new frame and door, hung square and set flush, transforms a hallway, and replacing tired internal doors is often one of the quickest ways to refresh a house. Matching existing skirting and architraves keeps the new work from standing out.

We discuss the finish with you, from painted to natural timber, and fit the ironmongery properly. We can also advise on hardware that suits the way you open and close things.

Kitchens and stairs

Kitchen Joinery and Staircases

Made-to-measure kitchen joinery suits rooms where standard units leave gaps. Solid timber doors, shelving and worktop details can be built to fit, and they can be combined with plumbing and tiling work in a wider renovation. Because the work is made to your measurements, it suits older houses where walls are rarely perfectly square.

Staircases are both structural and visible. Whether it is a new timber stair or the renewal of treads and handrails on an existing one, accuracy matters for safety as well as looks. A handrail should feel solid, and balusters must be spaced and fixed with care.

We show you the options and agree the details before we start.

Outdoors

Decking, Pergolas and Sun Exposure

Finestrat has strong sun for much of the year, and homes near the coast also get salty air. Outdoor timber takes a hard life, drying, swelling and weathering faster than timber indoors. Sun fades unprotected timber quickly, and coastal air accelerates the wear on fixings.

Choose species and finishes with that in mind, and expect to keep treated timber maintained. A pergola gives welcome shade, and decking can level an awkward corner of a sloping terrace, but both need proper fixings and sensible ventilation underneath. Stainless fixings and regular re-oiling are small jobs compared with replacing a failed structure.

We talk through the trade-offs honestly, so your outdoor timber still looks good after a few summers.

Floors

Timber Flooring and Finishing Touches

Timber flooring adds warmth, though it does need a flat, dry base. We check the subfloor before laying and advise if anything needs attention first. Underfloor conditions matter more than most people expect, especially in ground-floor rooms.

Skirting boards, architraves, shelves and window surrounds are the details that make a room look finished. They take care to scribe neatly against uneven walls. Neat finishing is often what separates ordinary work from something you notice every day.

Our work is guaranteed, with the scope set out in the quotation. Images on this site are for illustration only.
